Brie has a passion for working with children and youth who have varying developmental abilities, trauma histories, or mental health diagnoses that they need help navigating.
After graduating from Princeton University with an Honour’s Bachelor Degree in Psychology, she began frontline work with homeless and at-risk youth, witnessing first-hand the impacts of childhood trauma on quality of life when unresolved. Brie became determined to learn interventions for trauma and mental health concerns that could help young people look forward to a better quality of life in their future. Brie furthered her education with a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Practice from Trinity College Dublin, while expanding her work experience to supporting people with a wide range of developmental disabilities and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
Brie went on to obtain a clinical Master’s of Social Work from UBC Okanagan. Her work experience across the years has allowed her to promote the wellbeing of foster and adoptive families, youth in government care, and people struggling with mental health diagnoses or complex trauma. Brie has been undertaking certification courses with the Canadian Association of Play Therapy for the past few years, and has accomplished a strong understanding of play therapy techniques that she applies in her work with young people. She has a passion for helping children and youth to unpack trauma, navigate neurodiversity, and champion them to meet their mental health needs, from their youngest years all the way into adulthood. Brie is a registered practitioner with the BC College of Social Workers.
